HOME POOL SAFETY
TESTIMONALS
Received 1 May 2008 - following the screening of the 7:30 Report on Toddler Drowning.
I just wanted to drop you a note and congratulate you and RLSSA on the fantastic report on the 7:30 report last night. My wife and I were very moved by the stories and the information you presented. It is not often I get emotional about a current affairs report, but this one moved me deeply, as last November we had our first child, Maddie. Maddie is very, very keen on water, and we have had her in the pool since 4 months and she loves it, almost too much.
Anyway after seeing your report I decided to inspect the pool fence in detail and low and behold I found two base screws rusted through and snapped off, leaving one piece of our fence on only 2 rusting screws. Consequently I knocked off early today and have been repairing the fence with all new screws and mounting.
Your story has made an impact on us personally and also has alerted us to our responsibilities as parents. I hope that the message gets through to other parents around the country. So in a three words, "Thank You RLSSA!"
Recieved from website feebback Summer 2009/10
- The checklist reminded me about things I knew but highlighted a few points you forget about eg kids requiring supervision and keeping hair tied back. Thanks, it was great to be reminded of these important points.
- It has just reinforced the fact that all pool owners need to vigilant in checking that all safety procedures and equipment is up to date and maintained to satisfactory conditions. Thanks for keeping me Home Pool Safety aware.
- This checklist made me think and recheck everything around the pool to ensure everyone’s safety. It also reminded me that I need to get a CPR chart and post it up in the pool area.
- This checklist made me hurry up and fix the fence
- This website has been very helpful as this is the first pool we have ever had.
- Brilliant, thanks! This keeps us mindful of watching the little ones over summer.
- This website is a good reminder particularly for people with older children because we sometimes forget some safety issues.
- The whole website and checklist was useful. It really makes you think of how much stuff needs to be considered for pool safety. It's not just having a fence.
- I'm glad I came on the website and did the checklist. It will help me and the family out. I hope more people go on here and do the checklist.
- It's great because it makes you think twice! I'm about to go and have another look at the fence to check if I missed something! It's a great initiative, it really makes people THINK before they SWIM!
